When the temperature rises in the summer months, exercising can become even more challenging than usual, even for those who are usually very active!
If you’re struggling to keep active in this weather, here are some of our top tips…
👉🏼 Timing is key –
Try to avoid exercising at the hottest times of the day, especially if you’re doing it outside. If there’s no air conditioning available indoors and you’re struggling, think about doing an early morning or late evening session.
👉🏼 Hydrate –
It’s really important to keep hydrated and drink water before, during and after any physical activity, even if you don’t feel that thirsty. Make sure you always have water handy!
👉🏼 Wear the correct clothing –
Wear lightweight, light-coloured, loose-fitting clothes to help keep yourself as cool a possible.
👉🏼 Try something different –
Maybe instead of doing a workout that you know will be really challenging in the heat, choose something different. How about going swimming? Can you think of anything better than taking a dip in a pool when you’re too hot!
👉🏼 Listen to your body –
Take frequent breaks when needed and understand that you may not be able to work out as long or as hard as usual when it’s very hot… but that’s ok!
